Super second touch for Nolan in draw with Rams

Second-half substitute Jon Nolan said it was the perfect introduction after he netted Town’s equaliser with his second touch in the 1-1 draw against Derby.

The midfielder had been on the pitch for just two minutes when he latched on to Collin Quaner’s pass before rifling the ball into the bottom corner to earn Blues a point at Portman Road.

“I knew when I came on that I had to try and get into the box. Fortunately the ball came to me and I put it in the back of the net,” Jon told iFollow Ipswich.

“With it being just my second touch I couldn’t really have asked for a better introduction. I didn’t know what to do for a celebration but I’ll obviously take it.

“It was superb work from Collin and I think we saw the best of him tonight. Him and Will (Keane) put a real shift in for us up top.

“The young lads in midfield did really well too, as did everyone, and I think you could tell that from the fans’ reaction at the end.

“They knew we gave it a real good go against a strong side and I think we need to try and take some confidence into the match against Stoke at home on Saturday."
