“Every one of them was outstanding. What an atmosphere as well" says Paul after Derby draw
Paul Lambert heaped praise on his players following the draw with Derby at Portman Road.
Jon Nolan’s second-half equaliser after coming off the bench cancelled out Tom Lawrence’s early goal and Town went close to a winner with Jonas Knudsen’s shot headed off the line.
“The players were fabulous. It was relentless for the whole game and against a really good side who are vying to get out of this league,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.
“Every one of them was outstanding. I am so proud of them. What an atmosphere as well.
“They had a couple of chances at the end but if we had lost that game, it would have been an absolute travesty. Jonas had one headed off the line, it was us that were pushing for the winner.
“There has been a bug going around the place and we had to take Flynn [Downes] off because he was suffering with it. I only left Jon Nolan out because off the effort he put in on Sunday.
“He’s got a goal in him and it was a great strike. It was the least we deserved.
“We’re still in there fighting. We’re not going away and we’ll carry on giving it everything.”
