Centre-half looking to kick on after dream debut

James Collins described last weekend’s 1-0 win over Rotherham as the perfect start to his Town career.

The Welsh defender made 17 clearances and won 12 aerial battles during his debut as Paul Lambert’s side kept their first clean sheet in five games to secure a crucial three points against the Millers.

“It couldn’t have gone better and it was the perfect game to come into really,” the 35-year-old told iFollow Ipswich.

“They were putting plenty of balls into the box and I’ve always enjoyed that type of defending.

“We played really well in the first half and hung on a bit in the second but it was a huge three points.

“To a man I thought everyone was magnificent and we will certainly need that going forward.

“It’ll be another tough game this weekend against Blackburn but we have some confidence from the Rotherham result and we’re looking forward to it.”
