Comfortable win for Blues thanks to Teddy's treble
Teddy Bishop scored a hat-trick as Town's U23s cruised to a 5-0 victory over Millwall at Playford Road.
Tristan Nydam and Aaron Drinan were also on target for Gerard Nash's side who remain top of the Professional Development League Two South table following the three points.
Despite the hosts' resounding victory , it was the visitors who started on top. Charlie Wakefield forced Toby Egan into action inside five minutes before Mason Saunders-Henry was also denied by the Blues 'keeper.
But Town opened the scoring in the 26th minute. Nydam was fouled inside the penalty area and stepped up to casually convert the spot-kick.
Three minutes later Blues doubled their advantage. A mix-up in the Lions defence saw the ball fall kindly to Bishop inside the area, and the midfielder comfortably slotted past Tom King.
Town went into half-time 2-0 up, but eight minutes after the restart Millwall had an opportunity to reduce the deficit. Lewis White was fouled inside the penalty box by Barry Cotter but again Egan came to the rescue as he produced a fantastic save to deny White from 12 yards.
On 67 the result was put beyond doubt. Bishop beautifully twisted his marker before surging goalwards and firing in from a tight angle.
Just seven minutes later Blues had a fourth as Drinan rolled the ball in having rounded King.
And in the 85th minute Bishop completed his hat-trick with another superb goal. This time he collected the ball on the edge of the area before smashing the ball into the top corner with his left foot.
Wakefield came close to netting a consolation for the Lions in the dying stages but his strike from distance cannoned off the crossbar.
Blues have now won their last four games in a row and sit top of the PDL2 table on 39 points.
