Young Blues make it four wins in a row
Town U18s secured a 5-3 win over Millwall in the Professional Development League Two South on Saturday morning.
Tyreece Simpson netted twice, with Idris El Mizouni, Dylan Crowe and Lounes Foudil also on the score sheet for Blues at Playford Road.
It took just 13 minutes for Adem Atay's side to find the opener as Simpson smashed into the roof of the net having collected a loose ball on the edge of the area.
Three minutes later El Mizouni was fouled in the penalty box. The young Frenchman stepped up to take the spot-kick himself but Millwall 'keeper Joe Wright produced an impressive save.
Not even 60 seconds later, though, Town had their second after El Mizouni turned in from close range.
The visitors pulled a goal back in the 36th minute when Sam Skeffington fired past Blues shot-stopper Jake Alley from outside the area.
Just before half-time Town restored their two-goal advantage. Zak Brown was fouled and Crowe stepped up to curl a lovely free-kick past Wright.
Five minutes after the restart George Alexander scored Millwall's second with a fine finish into the bottom corner.
And on the hour mark the Lions levelled. Reuben Duncan tried his luck with a free-kick from 30 yards out and beautifully found the back of the net.
Millwall's Wright was shown a red card in the 72nd minute for a handball outside of his penalty area.
Town made the extra man count as they restored the lead nine minutes from time thanks to Foudil.
Simpson made sure of the win when he added a fifth in the dying stages.
The three points leaves Blues second in the PDL2 South table, three points behind leaders Cardiff City and four points ahead of third-placed QPR.
Town are next in action when they face Gillingham in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup at Medway Priestfield Stadium on January 11 [7pm kick-off].
