Match winner delighted with three points on league debut

Will Keane described his league debut for Town as the “perfect start” after his first-half goal saw Blues to a 1-0 victory over Rotherham United at Portman Road.

The striker, who is on loan from Hull City for the remainder of the season, smashed in his first goal for Blues in the 31st minute and played his part as Paul Lambert's side defended from the front to grind out the three points.

“It’s a massive win and all the lads put a great shift in right until the final whistle,” he told iFollow Ipswich.

“It got very tense for the last 25 or 30 minutes so I’m delighted we held on.

“Obviously I’m thrilled to have scored my first goal for Town as well. As a striker you’re determined to hit the ground running at a new club and it’s great that I’ve been able to do that.

“You want the goal to count for something too and the main thing is that we got the three points so I’m buzzing.

“We’ll all enjoy ourselves tonight but it’s important we look to get some momentum from this result and build on it in the coming weeks.
