Blues draw U's and Gills in group stage of 64-team tournament
Town have been drawn in group A of the EFL Trophy alongside Colchester United and Gillingham.
Blues will play one of the two sides away from home, with the other fixture taking place at Portman Road.
The competition features a total of 64 teams, with these then split into 16 groups of four (eight Northern and eight Southern) - each group containing one 'invited team' from Category One.
Each EFL club is guaranteed to play two group games at home, with the venues against Colchester and Gillingham decided on Friday.
Each Category One team will play all three of their group matches away from home.
The standard format of three points for a win, and one for a draw will be used, but, in the event of a drawn game after 90 minutes, a penalty shoot-out will be held with the winner gaining an extra point.
The top two placed teams from each group will progress to the knock-out stages, with round two of the competition remaining regionalised - the group winners at home against a second placed team from a different qualifying group.
Round three of the tournament will also remain regionalised, with the quarter-finals then being drawn without any geographical restrictions.
The semi-finals will be played at the stadium of the team drawn first in both ties, before the final takes place at Wembley on Sunday, 5 April, 2020.
Once the dates and venues for Town's fixtures are confirmed, ticket details regarding the three group stages matches will be released in due course.
