Norwood on target but Town fall to defeat in Meppen
Town lost 4-1 against Fortuna Dusseldorf in their opening game of the Interwetten Cup in Meppen.
James Norwood netted his first goal for Blues but it wasn't enough to prevent defeat in a 45-minute encounter.
Fortuna took the lead in just the third minute as Mattheus Zimmermann delivered a fine cross that was headed in by Oliver Fink.
But 60 seconds later Town were level. Norwood latched on to a through ball and neatly finished into the bottom corner.
The Bundesliga outfit regained the lead, though, in the 10th minute as Erik Thommy saw his strike from outside the area beat Blues shot-stopper Bartosz Bialkowski.
Thommy also netted Fortuna's third after he finished from close range following some impressive work by Bernard Tekpetey down the right side.
Town then lost centre-half Toto Nsiala with what looked to be a hamstring issue - Bailey Clements his replacement.
Fortuna had a fourth in the 27th minute thanks to Tekpetey, who finished well having collected the ball from a scuffed Emyr Huws clearance.
Town: Bialkowski, Donacien, Nsiala (Clements 16), Woolfenden, Nydam, Skuse, El Mizouni, Huws, Lankester, Dobra, Norwood.
