Drinan at the double for Blues in pre-season victory
Aaron Drinan (pictured) netted a brace as Town U23s won 4-2 against Sudbury on Saturday afternoon.
Two trialists were also on target for Gerard Nash's side at The MEL Group Stadium.
Blues started well and took the lead inside four minutes when Lounes Foudil danced his way into the penalty area before seeing his effort blocked. Fortunately for Town, though, the ball fell kindly to Drinan and the Irishman made no mistake with a fierce strike.
Sudbury then equalised approaching the half-hour mark as Freddie King surged beyond Louie Fehrenbach before calmly slotting the ball beyond Blues 'keeper Toby Egan.
Drinan restored Town's advantage eight minutes later when he fired in from the penalty spot after Kai Brown was tripped.
Trialist Quevin Castro added a third on the stroke of half-time with a curling effort from the corner of the area.
Trialist John Robertson won another penalty for the visitors after the break and then stepped up to roll the ball into the bottom right corner from 12 yards.
Sudbury netted a consolation in the 77th minute as Ben Hammett finished well from the edge of the box.
