Fun and footie training sessions for young Blues at stadium, plus tour and a free match ticket

The Club are running a Junior Blues Football Festival for six to 13 year olds on the first-team pitch at Portman Road on Thursday, 22 August, giving youngsters the chance to follow in the footsteps of Freddie Sears, Bartosz Bialkowski, Alan Judge and co.

Town held holiday courses on the pitch during half-term in May and sold out in no time so the Club are looking to give around 200 youngsters another chance to take part in fun football sessions in the stadium. Youngsters do not have to be a Junior Blue to take part.

"We need to engage with the young fans and build on that and this is another initiative to do that. To give them a chance to play on the pitch and see behind the scenes at the Club," Town's general manager football operations, Lee O'Neill, told the Club website.

What’s included?

*A fun two-hour coaching session on the pitch. It will be run by the Club’s Academy coaching staff, with the chance for youngsters to ‘score at Portman Road’. The emphasis will be on fun and enjoyment as much as improving football skills.

*After the session has finished, the young Blues will be taken on a mini tour of the stadium giving them a chance to look behind the scenes at the Club. They will sit in the home dressing rooms; walk down the tunnel; see the media room where interviews with Town boss Paul Lambert and his players after games take place, as well as getting a look at the international roll of honours board.

*Each youngster will be given a FREE child’s match ticket for Town’s home game against Shrewsbury on 31 August.

*A certificate for each young Blue that takes part, signed by Town boss Paul Lambert.

*Current and former Town players will be attending the sessions to see how the youngsters are getting on and pass on some tips of the trade.

How many sessions are there?
There will be three sessions during the day. They will take place between
9am - 11am, 11.30am - 1.30pm and 2.00pm - 4.00pm. If demand is there, it’s possible a fourth will take place between 4.30pm - 6.30pm.

Anything else?
Each attending young Blue will receive three additional entry tickets so parents and siblings/friends can watch from the Co-Operative Stand. These will be sent out in the post after booking the experience. There will be a chance to take photos at the end of the session.

Children and adults watching can also join the mini tour at £6 each.
(Please note - the mini tour isn’t the full ‘Behind the Blues’ tour. This can be booked at
