Paul on goalscorer Norwood, Kayden bedding in and the search for new recruits after five goal win at Colchester
Paul Lambert says he is still looking to add to his squad but was pleased with the performance as Town put five past Colchester at the JobServe Community Stadium.
James Norwood bagged a hat-trick with Kayden Jackson grabbing a brace as Blues impressed in the second-half.
“We had a very young team out there and I still think we need a little help. We’ve got a lot of players injured, big players so we still need to get two or three in if we can but it’s not easy.
“The fans have taken to Norwood and he has carried on from last season. He has started on fire here.
“He’s a very clever player and he took his goals really well tonight. He’s a goalscorer and we have seen that already.
“Kayden did great as well. He took his goals well and looked a threat. Sometimes players need a year to bed in and he’ll be better for that, all the new players that were here last year will be.”
Former Sheffield United defender James Wilson played the second-half for Town after training with the Club this week, with Paul adding: “He did great but he hasn’t had any pre-season at all.
“We wanted to get him in and have a look at him and we will see how it goes but we are short at the back with Toto [Nsiala] out for six weeks or so and Luke [Chambers] not able to play in the first game because of suspension.”
Cole Skuse wasn’t included in the squad with the manager adding: “He slipped over on Wednesday. There was no one near him but he jarred his hip. He’s okay but we didn’t want to risk him.”
