'The expectation is there but I love to deal with that' says in-demand James

James Norwood says he relishes the pressure that comes with his move to Town.

The 28-year-old striker has made an impressive start to his time at Portman Road after joining from Tranmere, with four goals in pre-season, including a hat-trick in the 5-0 win at Colchester.

His number 10 shirt is the best seller so far in the Club’s Planet Blue shop, with the striker also in demand for autographs and selfies at Town’s Open Day on Thursday.

“It’s nice when people praise you, whether that be in football or in life in general,” James told iFollow Ipswich.

“There is a bit of pressure there because of expectation but I love to deal with the pressure. If you can’t deal with pressure, you shouldn’t play football.

“Pre-season has gone okay. It’s obviously been good to score a few goals but that counts for nothing if I can’t take that into the season.

“We have looked good going forward and look solid at the back and although we have a difficult start I’m backing us to do well.”

Town finish the pre-season campaign at Cambridge tomorrow, kick-off 1pm before the League One fixtures get underway at Burton next weekend.

Blues fans going to the game can get details of matchday at the Abbey Stadium here, while there will also be a collection at the stadium for former Tottenham defender Justin Edinburgh, who passed away in June at the age of just 49. Full details of the Justin Edinburgh 3 Foundation here.
