Roberts and Jackson on target but Blues lose pre-season opener
Town fell to a 3-2 defeat against Bundesliga side SC Paderborn 07 in their opening match of pre-season.
Jordan Roberts and Kayden Jackson scored for Paul Lambert's side at the Stadion Laumeskamp in Delbrück, Germany.
Blues started brightly but were 3-0 down by the 34th minute thanks to clinical finishing from Paderborn's Kai Pröger, Tobias Schwede and Babacar Gueye.
Town pulled one back, though, nine minutes before half-time as Roberts chased down shot-stopper Michael Ratajczak before blocking his attempted clearance into the net from close range.
Jackson again reduced the deficit as he stepped up and converted a penalty he had won himself in the 76th minute.
Lambert's men enjoyed plenty of possession - and moved the ball around impressively -for the remainder of the contest without creating any clear-cut opportunities.
Town are next in action when they take part in the Intwerwetten Cup in Meppen, Germany, next Sunday.
Town first half: Holy, Emmanuel, Nsiala, Woolfenden, Kenlock, Skuse (c), Dobra, Bishop, Lankester, Dozzell, Roberts.
Town second half: Bialkowski, Donacien, Chambers (c), Ndaba, Nydam, Downes, Huws, Rowe, El Mizouni, Clements, Jackson.
