Paul pleased with performance in pre-season opener

Paul Lambert said he was happy with the level of performance in Town's opening game of pre-season.

Blues fell to a 3-2 defeat against SC Paderborn 07 in Germany on Saturday, but pushed the Bundesliga side to the final whistle and were on top for large parts of the contest.

"I'm pleased with what I saw," the Town manager told iFollow Ipswich.

"You never pay too much attention to results in pre-season but I thought we did really well against a side that will be playing in the top tier next season.

"We've been back two weeks as well so to get players through 45 minutes of football unscathed is the most important thing.

"We're a long way from where we want to get to but on that performance I think we're off to a good start."
