Blues finish fourth following penalty shootout defeat
Town finished fourth in the Interwetten Cup following a 0-0 draw against SV Meppen - the German side winning the resulting penalty shootout 3-1 to claim third spot.
Both sides had chances in the 45-minute match, but neither could break the deadlock at the Hänsch-Arena.
Blues started brightly and created their first opportunity in the 10th minute. Teddy Bishop's cross found Jordan Roberts but his goal-bound effort was blocked.
Paul Lambert's men then had the ball in the back of the net but it was ruled out for offside. Roberts delivered a cross to Kayden Jackson, who finished well, but the former was offside having been played down the line by Bishop.
Town also struck the post after Jackson was played in by Danny Rowe. The striker unable to squeeze the ball into the net from a narrowing angle having rounded the Meppen 'keeper.
Bishop departed for Blues in the 34th minute with an injury - Bailey Clements his replacement.
Town threatened in the latter stages but were unable to find a winner.
Jackson stepped up first for Blues in the shootout and scored, but Andre Dozzell, Luke Chambers and Roberts all missed.
Meppen scored all three of their penalties to win 3-1.
