Drinan and Myring do the business for Blues

Town U23s won 2-1 away at Lowestoft in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday evening.

Skipper Aaron Drinan was on target for Gerard Nash's side, along with trialist Harrison Myring.

Myring opened the scoring inside three minutes as he beat his marker before finding the back of the net with a fine left-footed finish.

Jake Reed went close for Lowestoft on the half-hour mark with a curling free-kick, but Blues shot-stopper Adam Przybek was relieved to see the ball sail narrowly over his crossbar.

Approaching half-time Przybek was called into action as he did well to save a strong header from Shaun Bammant.

After the restart Myring almost fired in his and Town's second, but Lowestoft 'keeper Luis Tibbles did brilliantly to save his effort that looked destined for the top corner.

Having squandered a couple of chances in the first half, Reed made no mistake when he levelled for the hosts in the 50th minute with a lovely finish into the bottom corner following a looping cross from the right.

Six minutes later Kai Brown broke for Town and did well to play Drinan through on goal. The Irishman cut inside before lifting the ball beyond Tibbles and into the roof of the net.

In the 62nd minute Blues substitute Allan Viral gave away a free-kick in a dangerous position. Jack Wilkinson stepped up to try his luck but his fierce strike cannoned off the woodwork.

Chances were few and far between in the final 20 minutes or so, with Viral having the best opportunity but dragging his effort wide of the target in the dying stages.

Elsewhere Town U18s drew 1-1 with Felixstowe & Walton in another pre-season friendly on Tuesday evening.

Michael Bareck scored Blues' goal at the Goldstar Ground, with Nyan Mesuria being sent off for the visitors in the second half for a second bookable offence.
