Young Blues on pre-season trip with seven other EFL clubs
Town U18s have stepped up their preparations for the new season with a trip to the Netherlands.
Along with the Young Blues, who are managed by Adem Atay, seven other EFL clubs are attending the pre-season tour which runs from the end of July until Sunday, 11 August.
Almost 150 U18 players from Barnsley, Burton Albion, Cheltenham Town, Lincoln City, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday and Walsall are on the trip with Adem's side.
The initiative, which is fully subsidised by the Erasmus+ fund, promotes development and facilitates the exchange of skills and ideas between players and coaches from England and the Netherlands.
A variety of Dutch clubs will be hosting the teams from England, with NAC Breda welcoming Town and Burton.
Players are scheduled to take part in a range of cultural actitivities including language lessons, a visit to the Overloon War Museum, tickets to watch an Eredivisie fixture, footgolf and a tour of Ajax's Johan Cruijff ArenA.
On the pitch, the clubs will experience training sessions led by the European coaches to prepare for fixtures against top-flight Dutch sides such as PSV Eindhoven and Sparta Rotterdam. Some clubs will also take on German and Belgian opposition in Bayer Leverkusen, Club Brugge and Standard Liège. Each English side will also compete in a tournament in Dordrecht, Lochem or Volendam.
