Young Blues thrash Brighton in first game of pre-season
Town U18s kicked off their pre-season with a comfortable 5-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday afternoon.
Allan Viral netted a brace with Harley Curtis, Ola Bello and Nyan Mesuria also on target for Adem Atay's side at Playford Road.
Viral struck inside five minutes to give the hosts the perfect start. Curtis picked the ball up down the right side before delivering a lovely low cross that was turned in by the young Frenchman.
Full-back Ben Wyss then played in Curtis with the latter holding his man off before producing a fine finish into the far corner of the net.
Blues added a third just seconds before half-time as Liam Gibbs squared the ball to Viral who tapped in from a few yards out.
Town changed their entire team at the break and continued to dominate after the restart.
Bello bagged a fourth in the 64th minute as he latched on to a loose ball and curled in from about 12 yards out.
And 13 minutes later the home side had a fifth. Mesuria, who was reintroduced to the action in the second half, casually slotted the ball into the bottom corner having been played through by Lewis Reed.
The young Blues are next in action when they face Reading on Saturday in a behind-closed-doors friendly.
Town first half: Bort, Wyss, Smith, Cutbush, Fehrenbach, Stewart, Curtis, Gibbs, Oppong, Mesuria, Viral.
Town second half: Alley, O'Reilly, Clifford, Baker, Kabongolo, Baggott, Ruffles (Curtis 60, Mesuria 71, Wyss 82), Alexander, Reed, Bareck, Bello.
