Town will kick off the 2019/20 League One campaign with a trip to Burton on August 3 before two of the promotion favourites go head to head at Portman Road a week later.
Sunderland provide Blues’ first opponents on home soil on August 10, with the Black Cats looking to return to the Championship at the second attempt after losing out to Charlton in the Play-Off final at Wembley last month, while Town set out on the challenge of making an instant return.
Town beat Nigel Clough’s Burton home and away the last time the two clubs met in the 2017/18 season, with the Brewers relegated from the Championship that year and going on to finish ninth in League One last term.
Gwion Edwards will be making a first return to Peterborough on August 17 when Town travel to London Road, the winger having left Posh for Blues last summer.
Town finish the opening month with a home game against AFC Wimbledon on August 20; a trip to Bolton four days later and then a visit from Shrewsbury on August 31, a game that will see Jon Nolan and Toto Nsiala up against their former club.
Town are at home to Gillingham on Boxing Day and will spend New Year’s Day at Wycombe, where Blues boss Paul Lambert first made a name for himself as a manager in England.
Milton Keynes Dons provide the opposition at Portman Road for the last game of the League One season on Sunday, May 3.
