'The players will be living in each other’s pockets. You have to respect each other' says boss ahead of Germany trip
Paul Lambert says Town’s pre-season tour to Germany will form a big part of his team’s preparations for the new campaign.
Blues play Bundesliga club Paderborn 07 in Delbrück on Saturday, July 6 before taking part in the four team Interwetten Cup in Meppen on Sunday, July 14.
The tournament will see Blues face another Bundesliga side, Fortuna Dusseldorf, in a 45 minute semi-final, with the winner facing either FC Utrecht from the Dutch top flight or German third tier club SV Meppen, with games to be played at the Hansch-Arena. There will also be a third place play-off.
It’s not just the game time in Germany that Paul sees vital to Town’s cause though.
“It will be next week when we go to Germany that pre-season will really kick in I think,” the Town boss told the Club website.
“The time out there will be huge for us. The players will be living in each other’s pockets. You have to respect each other.
“They will be working hard and they have to try and do everything we ask of them to prepare for that first game in August.
“We are facing some good teams out in Germany. That helps with the preparation but it’s about the whole trip and working together out there.”
