'It’s going to be a good battle between the two of them' says Paul as Bart and Tomas go head to head

Paul Lambert says the number one position is up for grabs for the new season.

New signing Tomas Holy and Bart Bialkowski joined the rest of the squad in the second day of pre-season training, with the Town boss making it clear what happens over the next five weeks before Blues kick off the League One campaign at Burton will dictate who starts in goal.

“Jimmy [Walker, Town goalkeeping coach] went to watch Tomas play a few times and I saw him myself last season,” Paul told iFollow Ipswich.

“We knew that it was likely that we would have to look at the goalkeeper options for this season and we’re delighted to have got Tomas in.

“He has a great stature, a great presence about him and has played a lot of games in the league.

“It’s going to be a good battle between the two of them for the position.”

Paul confirmed there has been interest in Bart from Millwall but added: “He’s here and fighting for the number one spot.

“You never know what can happen in football but he’s an Ipswich player, he’s a great pro and he’s here to play.”
