Sir Rod beats the weather to rock Portman Road in latest concert at Town
Town will continue to look to host more concerts after Sir Rod Stewart beat the weather to thrill a near full house at Portman Road.
The legendary rocker belted out hit after hit on Friday night to close on 19,000 in the audience, the massive football fan becoming the latest leading act to perform at Blues’ home.
Sir Elton John; P!nk; Red Hot Chili Peppers; Barry Manilow; REM and Neil Diamond have also been on stage at Portman Road in recent years, while Sir Rod was making his third appearance at the stadium.
“We were delighted to welcome Rod Stewart live in concert back to Portman Road,” Town’s director of sales, Rosie Richardson told the Club website.
“The heavens opened with a heavy downpour but the rain didn’t dampen spirits as he performed his hits throughout the evening.
“The atmosphere was tremendous as he engaged with the crowd and it was another successful concert here.
“We are constantly in discussions with promoters about holding events here so it’s a case of seeing what develops.”
