JUDGE GETS IRELAND NOD

14 March 2019

Blues midfielder in squad for Euro Qualifiers

Alan Judge has been named in the Republic of Ireland squad for their UEFA Euro qualifying games against Gibraltar and Georgia over the international break.

Mick McCarthy's Ireland kick off their qualifying campaign when they face Gibraltar away from home on March 23 before taking on Georgia at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin three days later.

Alan last represented the Boys in Green in March 2018, and has so far chalked up five caps and one goal for his national side.

Speaking to the matchday programme before Town's last home match against Reading, he said: "I feel like I've done well when I've played for Ireland and if I get an opportunity again then that's great.

"Everyone will agree that it means a lot to play for your country but - and I don't know why - in Ireland it's a particularly big deal.

"I will cherish the moment I made my debut forever and I will never turn down the chance to play for my country in the future. It's something to be very proud of."

Alan will join up with his international team-mates after Blues face Nottingham Forest at Portman Road this weekend.

Meanwhile young Blues full-back Dylan Crowe has been named in the England U18 squad for matches against Japan, Czech Republic and Mexico in the UAE over the international break.
