GWION ON FAIRTRADE MISSION

6 March 2019

Town flyer does the school run

Town winger Gwion Edwards visited St Matthew’s Primary School this afternoon to launch Fairtrade’s new initiative of presenting a Fairtrade football to every primary school in Ipswich during 2019.

Ipswich has been a Fairtrade town since 2008 and the support for Fairtrade across the area has grown.

Gwion was on hand to present the Fairtrade football to the school that is located in close proximity to Portman Road.  He then had a kickaround with the youngsters and signed autographs and posed for selfies.

“It’s great to be down here in the community, playing football with the kids and it’s great for them if they can learn more about the importance of Fairtrade,” Gwion told the Club website.

Bala Sport Fairtrade footballs are made in India and Pakistan, with their workers receiving many benefits such as free transport and health benefits.
