Point sees Blues stretch lead at top of PDL2 South
Town U23s came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Barnsley this afternoon.
Idris El Mizouni and Kai Brown struck in the 79th and 82nd minute respectively to salvage a point for Gerard Nash's side at the Oakwell Training Complex.
Blues started brightly but went behind in the ninth minute when Tai-Reece Chisholm fired into the bottom corner following some neat build-up play from the hosts.
The Tykes defence then stood strong as Town enjoyed plenty of possession without creating any clear-cut chances.
And two minutes before half-time Barnsley doubled their advantage. On this occasion Chisholm was the provider as he teed up Jordan Barnett to slot home.
It remained that way until 11 minutes from time when Brown gave Town a glimmer of hope with a smart finish beyond Tykes 'keeper Jake Greatorex.
Just three minutes later and Blues were all square. Greatorex saved a Brett McGavin penalty but El Mizouni reacted quickest to tuck in the rebound from close range.
Barnsley came close to a dramatic winner but Town shot-stopper Harry Wright did well to hold Elliot Simoes' fierce drive.
The result leaves Blues eight points clear at the top of the Professional Development League Two South table with four games remaining.
The U23s are next in action when they play Watford at home on March 19 [kick-off 1pm].
