Big crowd at Portman Road for vital clash as Town host Reading

One of the biggest crowds of the season at Portman Road is expected for Saturday’s game against Reading and a match Paul Lambert has described as ‘must win’.

Town are nine points shy of the Royals, who are above the relegation line on goal difference.

The Club are running a ticket promotion for the match with adults paying just £12 in all areas of the stadium. Seniors 65+ and U23s will be charged £8 while entry for those under 19s will be £3.

“It’s a big game obviously,” writes Paul in his column in Saturday’s matchday programme.

“It’s one we’ve got to win really. If we can, it closes the gap to six points and puts us right in the fight.  We are playing well enough to win, that’s the main thing.

“I’m told there will be another big crowd. I’ve said many times before, I have had nothing but praise for the fans from day one here.

“There has been an incredible atmosphere in the stadium and that’s important. We have to make it enjoyable for the fans to come here and watch the team play - win, lose or draw.

“It was important for me, when I came here, to get an understanding of how the supporters felt; why there seemed to be an apathy. For whatever reason, there is a good connection now between the fans and the players. That is the key to everything. We have to give something back to the supporters.”
