Last-minute goal sees Blues to the three points
Zak Brown and Liam Gibbs were on target as Town U18s beat Charlton 2-1 at Playford Road this afternoon.
Blues struck in the third minute and just before the final whistle to seal victory over the Addicks.
Adem Atay's side got off to the perfect start when Tommy Hughes' corner was headed into the bottom corner by Brown.
The visitors responded well, though, and came close through Luke Hirst but the striker shot wide having latched onto a cross from the left.
And just before half-time the Addicks found themselves level thanks to Tashae Andall-Gibbons. The tricky midfielder cut in from the left and unleashed a fierce drive to beat Blues shot-stopper Jake Alley.
Brown was presented with another chance for Town after the restart but he blazed over having been teed up by Hughes.
At the other end Charlton had a huge opportunity to go in front but centre-half Billy French missed an open goal from about 10 yards after the ball fell kindly to him from a corner.
The Addicks had three more chances 15 minutes from time but were unable to capitalise. Hirst saw his effort from a narrowing angle strike the post before Kasim Aidoo's shot was blocked on the line - the loose ball was then met by James Venning but his attempt was saved by Alley.
A minute from time Tyreece Simpson had a shot which deflected onto the hand of Richard Chic but referee Tristen Watson waved away Town protests.
But Blues snatched victory at the death as Gibbs hammered home from close range after Hughes' free-kick was knocked back across goal by Simpson.
Town: Alley, Viral (Wyss 45'), Henderson, Vega, Smith, Ruffles (Cutbush 45'), Baker, Gibbs, Hughes (C), Z Brown (Reed 66'), Simpson.
