TOWN HOST DEMENTIA TEA PARTY

20 May 2019

Ex-Blues Allan Hunter and John Peddelty mark Dementia Awareness Week

Town are supporting Dementia Awareness Week through hosting a tea party for locals who are living with dementia.

The Club invited residents from local care homes who are living with dementia to attend. We were also joined by attendees of local memory cafes whose lives are affected by dementia. Jan Parry, the new Mayor of Ipswich also visited the Sir Bobby Robson Suite which played host to the event.

Town are an active member of the Ipswich Dementia Action Alliance (IDAA) and is one of the many organisations working towards making Ipswich a dementia friendly community.

The Club has provided Dementia Friend information sessions to staff and stewards, and has dedicated matches to raising awareness of dementia. This season, we dedicated one of our suites as 'dementia friendly' at the Sheffield Wednesday game inviting guests living with dementia and their family and carers.
