Scott secures point for Young Blues at Playford Road
Town U23s drew 1-1 with Colchester United in a Professional Development League Two clash this afternoon.
Ryley Scott secured a point for the Young Blues with a second-half strike after the U's broke the deadlock seven minutes before half-time.
The hosts started brightly and hit the crossbar twice in the opening 15 minutes. First a deep cross found Kai Brown at the back post and his chipped effort clipped the woodwork, then Connor O'Reilly drove forward and was unlucky not to score when his dipping strike from outside the box bounced off the bar.
Colchester then opened the scoring approaching the interval, the away side broke quickly and Town 'keeper Jake Alley was unable to prevent a curling strike finding the bottom left corner.
Chances were few and far between in the second half but Scott did find the net with the best opportunity of the second 45. The midfielder broke into the box and volleyed into the bottom corner having timed his run perfectly to meet a cross from the right.
Colin Oppong, Matt Healy and Fraser Alexander were all used as second-half substitutes for Town.
