PLAY-OFFS FOR JUDGE'S IRELAND

18 November 2019

Republic miss out on automatic European qualification

Alan Judge’s Republic of Ireland will have to qualify through the Play-Offs for Euro 2020.

The Town midfielder remained on the bench as the Republic were held by Denmark in their last game in the qualifying group.

The Irish  needed the three points to reach next summer’s finals but were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw in Dublin.

The Play-Offs take place next March, with the four winners joining the 20 finalists for the tournament held across Europe.

Former Town striker David McGoldrick led the line for an Ireland side managed by ex-Blues boss Mick McCarthy.
