BOSS | PENALTY SAVE WAS KEY

9 November 2019

"It was a great save from Will and that gave us the impetus to kick on"

Paul Lambert said Will Norris’ penalty save gave Town the impetus to stay in the FA Cup.

Blues were behind to a Tyler Walker goal and the scorer had a chance to extend Lincoln’s lead in the closing stages but Norris saved his spot-kick before Andre Dozzell kept Town in the competition with a sublime equaliser on 79 minutes.

“A replay is not ideal but we will get on with it. A lot of the players got some game time so that’s a positive,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.

“The first-half we weren’t at it. The second-half we were a lot better and I was delighted with that.

“It was a great finish from Andre. He got better in the second-half and he was the one that was making things happen for us.

“The penalty save was obviously a big moment. It was a great save from Will and that gave us the impetus to kick on.

“So as I said, not ideal but we are still in the cup and we’ll go there for the replay looking to progress.”

The replay will take place at Sincil Bank on Wednesday, 20 November.
