"I’ve got to see what they can do in front of a crowd” says boss as 2600 back Blues at Colchester

Paul Lambert says some of the Town youngsters will be given a first-team opportunity in the Trophy game at Colchester on Tuesday.

Blues are already guaranteed a place in the next round of the competition courtesy of wins over Tottenham U21s and Gillingham.

Academy products Tyreece Simpson and Tommy Hughes have made their debuts for Blues in the tournament this season and others may follow at the JobServe Community Stadium.

“There will be changes. Some of the younger lads will play. I’ve got to see what they can do in front of a crowd,” the Town boss told the Club website.

“It’s good for the Club to see some of the younger lads get a chance. They are training with us so I have confidence in them.

“We will have a big support there as well so it’s good for the fans to have the chance to see some of the younger lads.”

Kick-off on Tuesday is 7.30pm. Town have already sold 2600 tickets for the game. Tickets can no longer be purchased for the match online but the Planet Blue store are still selling up until midday tomorrow. There will be no tickets sold to Blues’ fans at the stadium on the night.

You can also watch the game live on iFollow for £10.
