Town to face Podolski and co in Germany six-a-side event for charity

Town are taking part in a prestigious indoor football tournament in Germany in January, with money raised from the event going to local charities.

The Schauinsland-Reisen Cup in Gummersbach will take place on Sunday, 12 January with Blues joining Bundesliga teams, with the event also including TV, music and sports celebrities.

Former Germany international striker Lukas Podolski plays a leading role in the tournament, which runs under the slogan ‘Kick for Charity’, and will feature in action.

Paul Lambert will lead a mainly Town U23 side in the competition with Karlsruher SC; FC Nürnberg; SpVgg Greuther Fürth and Rot-Weiss Essen amongst the opposition standing in the way of silverware.

After the main tournament, a celebrity event will follow with all the proceeds of the day going to organisations that look after children and adolescents.
