Blues cruise to three points at Playford Road
Town U18s thrashed Colchester United 6-1 at Playford Road on Saturday.
Lewis Reed netted a hat-trick, while Liam Gibbs, Harley Curtis and Dylan Ruffles were also on target for Adem Atay's side in the Professional Development League Two clash.
The hosts took the lead around the half-hour mark when Reed converted a penalty he had won himself, before adding a second in the dying stages of the first half when Reed glanced in Matt Healy's free-kick with his head.
Blues made it three on the hour mark as Gibbs flicked in Alife Cutbush's cross and the result was put beyond doubt nine minutes later when Reed curled in a low free-kick.
Curtis added a fifth in the 84th minute and just a couple of minutes later Ruffles surged forward to score Town's sixth.
Colchester netted a consolation in the dying stages through Jake Hutchinson, but Blues had been well on top throughout and clinical finishing led to an emphatic scoreline.
Town now sit fourth in the PDL2 South table.
U18s: Alley, Ruffles, O'Reilly, Healy, Baggott, Henderson, Cutbush (Curtis 61), Alexander (Wyss 86), Reed, Baker (Mesuria 61), Gibbs.
