Hip problem for midfielder ahead of Accrington trip

Flynn Downes is back at Town having treatment on a hip injury picked up while on international duty.

The midfielder was a second-half substitute for Blues’ team-mate Andre Dozzell in England U20s’ 3-0 defeat by the Czech Republic at Peterborough’s Weston Homes Stadium last night.

England finished the game with 10 men after Flynn limped off 10 minutes from time and he is a concern for Town ahead of Sunday’s trip to Accrington.

“It’s an impact injury to his left hip,” Town physio Matt Byard told the Club website.

“We will see how it settles down over the next few days before we have a clearer idea of whether he will be okay for the weekend.”

Meanwhile Town striker Ben Folami won his first cap for the Australia U23 side as they went down to a 2-1 defeat against Iran in Qatar.

The Academy graduate has recently returned to action following eight months out with an achilles injury.
