Scott on target but Young Blues remain winless this season
Town U23s were beaten 3-1 by Burnley this afternoon.
Ryley Scott netted late on, but Blues remain without a point in Professional Development League Two following defeat at Curzon Ashton’s Tameside Stadium.
Toto Nsiala and Ben Folami both featured for Gerard Nash's and Chris Hogg's side as the pair continue to progress following hamstring and achilles injuries respectively.
Burnley took the lead in the 26th minute after Nsiala fouled Lewis Richardson in the penalty box and Ali Koiki stepped up to convert from 12 yards.
Folami missed a chance to equalise for Town approaching half-time and nine minutes after the break the hosts doubled their advantage.
Koiki was again on target and again it was via the penalty spot after Adam Przybek had fouled Richardson.
It was 3-0 on the hour mark when Koiki completed his hat-trick by tapping in from close range after a shot from Richardson was parried by Przybek.
Przybek then did superbly to prevent Burnley adding a fourth when he stayed big to block a shot from Richardson.
Town scored a deserved goal in the dying stages through Scott but the Young Blues remain bottom of the Professional Development League Two South table following a fifth successive defeat.
The U23s are next in action when they take on Charlton Athletic at Portman Road on Monday, 23 September [kick-off 7pm].
U23s: Przybek, Cotter, Nsiala, Ndaba, Clements, McGavin, Dobra (Foudil 60'), El Mizouni, Folami, Roberts (Scott 68'), Simpson. Unused: Egan, Crowe, Brown.
