Fantastic second-half display says Paul as Blues find goal touch

Paul Lambert hailed his team’s second-half display as fantastic as Blues put four past Tranmere.

Luke Garbutt’s brilliant free-kick was cancelled out by Stefan Payne before the break but Kayden Jackson’s fifth goal of the season early in the second-half was followed by strikes from Jon Nolan and Kane Vincent-Young to keep Blues top of the table and unbeaten in the league.

“We are going to get games like that when teams come here and look to make it difficult. They will love the atmosphere, the stadium and we have to deal with it but the second-half, we were relentless. We were fantastic," the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.

“It was a big goal, the second goal. Kayden has done great to get in there and from there, we were terrific.

“Kane’s goal, what a goal that was. He has got what every player craves, enthusiasm for the game. The way he is performing, I don’t think there is a better right-back at this level.

“I wasn’t surprised to see Luke Garbutt put that free-kick in either. I watched him in training the other day and he took about 10 free-kicks and scored eight of them just like that. His free-kicks are a real weapon for us.

“It’s another three points and we are in a good place at the moment, the Club is in a good place.”
