“Kane has been fantastic for us. His performances have been incredibly high defensively and offensively"
Paul Lambert felt Town were well worth the win at Gillingham as Kane Vincent-Young’s first goal for the Club gave Blues the points.
The 23-year-old’s header in the first-half was enough to take Town back to the top of the table as Paul Lambert’s side equalled the Club record of five clean sheets.
“I felt we deserved it. We were terrific and carried on from the win over MK Dons,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.
“Gillingham are a good team but I have not seen them play the way they did today, long ball, long ball. That surprised me. They have better players than that but we coped with it well.
“The goal was fantastic. We had so many passes and then it was a great ball from Kayden [Jackson] at the end for Kane to head in.
“Kane has been fantastic for us. His performances have been incredibly high defensively and offensively.
“[Alan] Judge hit the post. He was excellent for us and at the other end, Tomas [Holy] didn’t have a save to make really.
“We defended well again and if you keep clean sheets, it gives you a great platform. Luke Chambers put in a great tackle to stop them getting in and Luke Woolfenden and James Wilson were fantasic for us again.”
