"If we can continue to win games it’s going to be a happy place to be around this season"

Luke Chambers says the players are relishing every game at the moment and enjoying having the expectation of winning football matches.

Blues are two points clear at the top of the table and still unbeaten in the league after Saturday’s 4-1 win over Tranmere at the weekend.

Town travel to third place Fleetwood next Saturday and will go there in confident mood says the skipper.

“Confidence is high in the squad. That’s what happens when you win games of football. Winning breeds confidence for the players, for the supporters as well and if we can continue to win games it’s going to be a happy place to be around this season,” Chambo told the Club website.

“We spoke before the season kicked off about the importance of getting off to a good start. If we hadn’t got results so quickly, it could have been a tough season but we seem to have eradicated the disappointment of last year out of our minds and used it as a fuel to drive us forward.

“We are top of the table; we are expected to win games and we are winning games. We are enjoying winning games as well whereas before, if we won it was more of a relief than anything else.

“I’m not sure how the boys that have been here three or four years have handled having mediocre seasons and winning 10 games a year.

“It’s a different feeling entirely this season. The players are relishing every game and embracing it.”
