“If you have a good Academy it must help make you more sustainable as a football club"
Matt Gill says Town can be proud of its Academy and the conveyor belt of talent coming through.
Blues had three homegrown players in the starting line-up in the win over Shrewsbury at the weekend [Flynn Downes, Myles Kenlock and Luke Woolfenden] and another on the bench [Andre Dozzell].
“If you have a good Academy it must help make you more sustainable as a football club,” first-team coach Matt told iFollow Ipswich.
“I’ve been very impressed with what I have seen here in my time at the Club. We had four players involved in the squad on Saturday and boys like Idris [El Mizouni], Dobs [Armando Dobra] and Bailey [Clements] have also played for the first-team this season.
“The standard of the young boys is really impressive and so is the conveyor belt that the Club have built to bring the young players through.
“It’s fantastic to work with the youngsters and see them develop and some may get another opportunity to show what they can do tonight.”
Town face Tottenham U21s in the Leasing.com Trophy at Portman Road, kick-off 7.45pm. See iFollow for the full interview with Matt and to watch live streaming of the match.
