Assistant manager on pre-season loss at Cambridge
Stuart Taylor said he was disappointed with the level of performance from Town as they were beaten 1-0 by Cambridge in their final pre-season outing.
Former Blue Paul Digby grabbed the winner for the hosts with a second-half strike at Abbey Stadium.
“We were disappointing today. We don’t look at results in pre-season, we look at performances,” Stuart told iFollow Ipswich.
“However the level of performance today was poor, so it was really disappointing for us in every aspect.”
Blues have two cup games with Bristol Rovers and Arsenal U21s in the Carabao Cup and EFL Trophy respectively before the League One campaign gets under way against Wigan at Portman Road on Sunday, 13 September - live on Sky Sports.
“What today does do is it makes the manager’s decision that little bit easier going into the first game of the season,” Town’s assistant manager added.
“Hopefully it’s given a few of the lads a bit of a kick up the backside that they need before the season starts.”
