Positive Covid cases at Highbury Stadium delay Town visit
Town’s match at Fleetwood, that was scheduled to be played next Monday, 4 January, has been postponed because Covid-19 has hit the Lancashire club.
The game was originally set to take place on Saturday but was put back 48 hours to give a number of Blues players that extra recovery time after testing positive for coronavirus before Christmas.
Now several members of Fleetwood’s first-team set-up have tested positive for the virus and will self-isolate for 10 days in line with Government protocol.
The club have informed the EFL that they are not in a position to play Town or Sunderland on January 9 and both games will now be rearranged.
Town are next in action against Swindon on Saturday, January 9 in a game to be televised live on Sky, kick-off 5.30pm.
It will be Blues’ first match since the win over Burton on December 15, with the four fixtures since then postponed because of Covid.
