Blues target new area in the region
Ipswich Town Community Trust is delighted to announce a new partnership with IES Breckland.
The partnership involves lots of different elements, incorporating IES Breckland, the Community Trust, the town of Brandon and the local schools and villages.
Ipswich Town Community Trust will use IES Breckland’s facilities for a new open access Skills Centre for boys and girls on a Saturday morning and also provide specific training midweek for cluster primary schools. Brandon Town will provide ITFC participants with potential provision through their youth teams and provide an option for any players to play competitive fixtures.
The partnership will also benefit IES Breckland students, providing opportunities such as work experience coaching within the community, shadowing key staff at weekly sessions and holiday camps providing a pathway into a career of coaching.
Jon Winn, IES Breckland Principal said, “I am delighted by our partnership with Ipswich Town Community Trust; it will provide multiple opportunities for students and the wider community to participate in a variety of sporting roles."
Andrew Goddard, Brandon Town Youth representative said, “Over the last 18 months, Brandon Town Community Football Club and IES Breckland have created a partnership that has seen a shared investment into the school’s facilities which has allowed BTCFC to use these facilities for training and matches. The great news that Ipswich Town have now created a partnership with IES means that some of our members and those outside of our club will be able to access further qualified coaching and that Ipswich will be able to offer a pathway back to our club for children interested in further training and games. All in all we see this as a massive positive for youth football in our town.”
Jason Curtis, head of community at the Trust, said, “Ipswich Town Community Trust is delighted to be working with IES Breckland. This new partnership supports our commitment to provide equal opportunities, experiences and engagement across Suffolk and neighbouring counties. After initial discussions with Jon and Laura it was very clear of their passion to provide sporting opportunities to the local community and the brand of Ipswich Town Football Club is a very powerful tool that we will use to help engage many target groups.
“We have done a vast amount of research and Brandon is an identified deprived area of Suffolk, young people are extremely inactive and experience a lack of opportunities, this partnership will help address these issues.
“We are fully supportive of exciting plans for new facilities at the school which will naturally create the right environment for players within our programmes. This will allow both organisations to provide endless opportunities and experiences which will be exciting for everyone involved”
Laura Woods, IES Director of Community Engagement, said, “This is a wonderful opportunity for the young people of Brandon to get involved in football, whilst also increasing usage of school facilities which is central to our community engagement strategy.”
The Ipswich Town Community Trust ‘Skills Centre’ programme offers open access football to outfield players and goalkeepers whether they play for a club/school or completely new to football. The Skill Centre forms the tier below our invite only EPDC, where last season we had a large number of players progress to the next tier of the pathway.
Some of the key aspects of the Ipswich Town Skill Centre Programme include;
- Regular communication in the form of parent emails and social media updates (@ITFCCommunity)
- Opportunity for progression through the ITFC pathway
- Fun based skill session twinned with mini matches
- Coaching from experienced FA qualified staff
- Access to additional school holiday provision
