"The second half was more about grinding it out. We fought and showed desire"
Paul Lambert thought Town showed good fight and desire in this evening's win over Burton, but admitted the performance 'wasn't pretty'.
Blues got off to a flying start with a fine finish from Keanan Bennetts, with an 80th-minute from Emyr Huws then needed to secure the thee points after Joe Powell had equalised for The Brewers in the first half.
The victory leaves Town two points off top spot in the League One table heading into a clash with Peterborough on Saturday.
"It wasn't pretty," Paul told iFollow Ipswich.
"We got off to a great start and looked good early on. They hit us on the counter and got back in it.
"It was a poor goal for us to concede and then we tried to respond but they saw it through until half-time.
"The second half was more about grinding it out. We fought and showed desire so I'm proud of the lads in that aspect.
"We're running on empty at the moment with the injuries so I'm pleased they kept going.
"Peterborough will be a test on Saturday but we'll try and take some momentum into that one."
