"The players need to be willing to take risks"
Paul Lambert says Town must take risks in order to apply more of a goal threat in upcoming games.
The Blues boss was happy with the defensive qualities that his side showed in a goalless draw at Oxford on Tuesday, but is hoping Town can kick on against Plymouth this weekend.
"We had 12 first-team players missing at Oxford," Paul told iFollow Ipswich.
"It gives some of the youngsters a chance and Karl Robinson [Oxford manager] said that he thought it was a good time to play us. All of these things have to be taken into context.
"The work rate and effort is there, though. In the context of things it was a good point, but I do want us to go to places and go for the win.
"Defensively we looked good against Oxford but we want to threaten going forward. I think that comes with risks and the players being willing to take those risks.
"Plymouth will no doubt be a test but we head on the long journey looking to build on Tuesday's draw."
