ITFC Women beaten by cup holders and WSL leaders
ITFC Women bowed out of the Women's FA Cup following a 10-0 defeat against Manchester City this afternoon.
The cup holders and Women's Super League leaders put on an impressive display at the Academy Stadium with Pauline Bremer, Georgia Stanway and Jess Park all netting hat-tricks.
Laura Coombs was also on target for the hosts in the fifth round tie.
Tractor Girls manager Joe Sheehan named an unchanged side from the historic 4-1 win over Huddersfield in the fourth round, while England captain Steph Houghton started for City.
Almost 20 minutes in City took the lead. Coombs broke down the left side before slotting the ball into the net having skipped past Blue Wilson.
Bremer fired in City's second in the 25th minute with a fine finish into the bottom corner, before Park added a third with a strike from just outside the area.
It remained 3-0 until half-time, but a fourth goal came on 49 when Bremer scored her second with a good finish into the top corner.
By 64 it was 6-0. Bremer completed her hat-trick with a dinked finish seven minutes after Stanway had scored City's fifth.
Moments later Stanway had her second and City's seventh as she casually slotted the ball into the net.
Park bagged a quick double approaching the 80th minute - the first a comfortable finish from inside the box, the second an impressive strike from range that found the top corner.
Five minutes from time Stanway also completed her hat-trick with another long-range effort.
Town, the first fourth-tier side to make it to this stage of the competition, can hold their heads high following a spirited display against a City side featuring 10 full internationals.
