Academy scholar rewarded for his progress with deal until 2022
Young Town defender Tommy Smith has signed his first professional contract at Portman Road.
The 18-year-old has put pen to paper on a deal until the summer of 2022, with a year option on top.
Tommy, who is currently on loan at Isthmian League North Division club Bury Town, became a full time scholar at Blues’ Academy in the summer of 2018.
He made his first-team debut as a half-time substitute in the leasing.com Trophy win against Peterborough in December.
The full-back is one of nine homegrown players to have made their senior bow for Blues this season, joining:- Bailey Clements, Alex Henderson, Tawanda Chirewa, Armando Dobra, Liam Gibbs, Tommy Hughes, Brett McGavin and Tyreece Simpson.
