Defender on hard-fought victory over Lincoln at Portman Road

James Wilson said Town thoroughly deserved the three points after grinding out a 1-0 win over Lincoln at Portman Road this afternoon.

Blues looked comfortable throughout, but had to dig deep in the dying stages to ensure Luke Woolfenden's header at the end of the first half would prove to be the match winner.

"We had to grind it out because we couldn't quite get the second goal but we definitely desrved to win," James told iFollow Ipswich.

"I thought we played well in the first half particularly and could have been a couple of goals ahead but it was important to go into half-time with a lead at least.

"It was brilliant to get the clean sheet too, and obviously that gives you a far better chance of winning the game which we did.

"The fans were very much behind us and that helped because we need to make sure our home form is right at it through until the end of the season.

"It's just another three points but of course the fact that it took us back to the top of the table fills us with confidence. Now we have to stay there."
