"Some of the figures we have been quoted, dear oh dear"
Paul Lambert has reiterated that it will be a quiet transfer deadline day at Portman Road.
Josh Earl has been added to the squad on loan from Preston since the window opened at the turn of the year, with deals to be done until 11pm tonight.
“We have enquired about players but they have been too expensive,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich. "Some of the figures we have been quoted, dear oh dear.
“The January window is difficult because you get players who teams don’t want; or that teams want to loan out to get fit or you get young kids and that is not what we want.
“We don’t have the money to buy players. Marcus [Evans, Club owner] has made that clear so you are looking at loans. That’s not my ideal scenario. You are then developing someone else’s player if you bring them in on loan.
“It’s different with Will Norris and Luke Garbutt because we have brought them in on season loans and you get more out of that but January, it’s difficult. If they are not fit, you have to get them fit and you haven’t got a lot of time to do that.
“I don’t expect anything to happen really. If someone comes in for one of the younger players on loan then maybe.”
