"The level of performance, the drive and hunger was there in abundance"
Paul Lambert was delighted with the performance against Accrington and said Town could have won by more.
Goals from Kayden Jackson, James Norwood and Alan Judge in the first-half did the damage with Will Keane adding a fourth in added on time after Offrande Zanzala had pulled one back from the penalty five spot minutes from time.
“The lads deserve so much credit for the way they played,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.
“They have taken criticism from some areas which I think has been unfair but they reacted brilliantly.
“It could have been five or six in the first-half and the level of performance, the drive and hunger was there in abundance.
“The intensity was back to what it was and while we were clinical with some chances, we could have had more.”
Luke Woolfenden played a big role in the first goal, Luke Chambers in the third as Town’s defenders were encouraged to get forward.
“We worked on something during the week and asked them to do something that is alien to them and they did great,” explained Paul.
“Forget talk of systems and all that nonsense though. The game is always about players.”
